Antique Bengali narrative Kantha that tells a story over multiple scenes. It may display a classic folk story or something relevant to the maker. A variety of scenes of village life are showcased including collecting wood, making of chapathi, and a conflict where the participants are holding sticks or other weapons. A very intriguing piece that incorporates many varied scenes into a visually balanced whole.

Bengali Kantha featuring an off-center mandala with reciprocal panels on top and bottom. The central mandala is squished to one side by three elephants and one horse form. The top and bottom panels both feature a row of plant forms that blossom into birds. Soft red, blue, and yellow on a soft pink ground.

The panels feature an elephant, a person on horseback, and what appears to be a rendition of the British hunter motif. It is framed by an alternating rosette and leaf border reminiscent of the classical egg and dart style. At the four corners of the border is a single rosette.

Antique pastel Kantha featuring a central mandala with pinwheels at its focal point as well as its four flanks. The patterning is a variation of different abstracted forms consistent in form as well as color with a limited palette of navy and red faded to soft pink on a white cotton ground. The consistency is slightly thrown by some moments where the original red has not faded packing a small punch. The red moments in combination with the pinwheels give this piece a hypnotic effect.

Antique Kantha featuring a central floral mandala with vegetal forms in each cornice. It has a limited palette of various red and black threads on plain white cotton ground. The red and black threads were likely harvested and reused from old clothing.  A mixed border of local fish (Ilish) on the vertical and birds (Doyel) on the horizontal frame the whole. Look closely to notice two small birds in one cornice.

Late 19th century Indian Amritsar rug featuring an elegant all-over design of palmettes, detailed blossoming vines, and groupings of curled leaves on a rich crimson ground. The crimson tone utilizes lac which is a dye derived from insects and characteristic of Northern India weaving from both Amritsar and Agra. With accents of gold, wheat, ivory, and pink. The whole is framed by a spectacular turquoise with a wonderful, undulating abrash that even has some moments of soft purple.

This Moroccan-styled rug was woven during the 21st century in India.  It features an idiosyncratic pattern of wonky interconnected diamonds on a ground of alternating stripes in different widths and colors and full of various small diamond shapes. The diamond lattice is outlined in a thick white band flanked by smaller back and green bands and appears to float above the polychrome striped ground that alternates between vibrant tones red, green and watermelon and calmer tones of pale yellow and sand.
