This vintage patchwork quilt was crafted in North America during the middle of the 20th century.


It features patch-worked grid composed of squares. Each square is formed of well balanced triangles of either colorful flannel patterns or more open dotted and striped cream ground patterning. The squares have been pieced together wondefully and the composition can be read many different ways that is accentuated by its perfectly square dimensions.

This vintage patchwork quilt was crafted in North America during the middle of the 20th century.


It features patch-worked squares of various fabric in rows of serrated stripes organized on the diagonal. Many of the squares feature there own detailed patterning which adds interest and touch of fun! Much of the stitching has been completed by hand included large visible running stitches in black giving the piece a kantha-like feel.

This blanket was likely woven by the Fulani people in Mali during the middle of the 20th century.

It was woven in multiple stripes which have been attached horizontally. It features an eye dazzling checkerboard composed of white, black, red, green, blue and a sunny yellow-orange. Four individual squares around the perimeter are woven with the red-yellow-green tricolor of the Malian flag.

This blanket was likely woven in Nigeria during the middle of the 20th century.

It was woven in multiple stripes which have been attached horizontally. It features four human figures and six goats as well as various stripes in green, purple and black against an ivory ground. A wonderful and less common palette most often seen on Nigerian weavings. The figuresd and stripes have been completed using weft substition over the ivory strips.

This Suzani was handmade during the early 20th century in Uzbekistan.

This suzani is composed of central floral motif embroidered in silk on an open red cotton field. Flanked by vibrant multi-tiered blossoming flowers to the right and left and framed by a lively floral meander. A multitude of colors are used for the embroidery, including turqoise, green, white, yellow, and purple.

This Burqa was crafted in Afghanistan during the late 20th century. 

A burqa is a full-body garment that covers a woman's face and body. This burqa is made of periwinkle blue fabric with crimping around the back and floral embroidery below mesh opening for the eyes.

It is in good condition with small patches and some sun fading.

This lovely chapan is crafted from crimson striped silk. It is embellished with fine black, white, and yellow embroidery around its perimeter and up the sides. The embroidery is well executed more ornate than is standard for this type. There are three lovely floral forms on the bottom right and left of the jacket that also set it apart. A blue printed liner adds another element of interest.

This lovely chapan is crafted from green wool. It is embroidered with an array of tones including black, red, white, orange and purple around its perimeter and up the sides. The tendrils of a tree of life or other plant form are found aroudn the slits on both sides. A red printed floral liner adds another element of interest.

This Tapa or Ngatu cloth was made of mulberry bark fiber in Tonga during the 20th century.

Tapa or Ngatu in Tonga is a type of decorated barkcloth found throughout Polynesia. The inner bark of the paper mulberry tree is beaten with a mallet and joined into a large cloth which is then decorated with natural dyes and pigments. The decoration is called Kupesi and references the natural world, seasons and Tongan cosmology.
