This Nakshi Kantha was crafted in Bengal during the early 20th century.

Kantha is a Bengali folk tradition of embroidering textiles using recycled cloth. This Kantha features a detailed web-like central mandala flanked by four blossoming bouquet cornices. Each is similar yet distinctive and pokes and squishes the mandala distorting its form. The simple rendition is energized by colorful and vibrant leaf-like forms in red, blue, orange, and green cutting across the white cotton field at various angles. The whole is framed by a thin, red "chok par" or eye border.

In very good condition with small areas of old folk repairs.
