This Nakshi Kantha was crafted in Bengal during the late 19th century.
Kantha is a Bengali folk tradition of embroidering textiles using recycled cloth. This Kantha features a field full of columns from pinwheels and floral meanders to zig zags and simple shapes. Crisply and meticulously rendered with a wide and vibrant color palette on a white cotton ground. Framed around the perimeter by mixed scroll borders of flower buds on the vertical and pinwheels on the horizontal.
In very good condition with some fading and small areas of color run.
