A vibrant woven cinta from Zunil, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. This long headdress band is brocaded with repeating multicolored motifs, including geometric diamonds and stylized human figures in bright yellow, green, red, and white against a richly patterned ground. The ends finish in twisted multicolored tassels, typical of Zunil weaving.
Cintas are among the most distinctive elements of Maya women’s attire. They are wrapped elaborately around the head, creating a striking crown-like headdress, as seen in traditional dress from Zunil. This example combines fine weaving with bold, festive color, embodying both daily wear and ceremonial expression
