This Sarouk rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century.

It features of an deep navy central medallion on a crimson ground. The field is filled with fine floral sprays and balanced by four scalloped cornices woven in light blue. The border is composed of a straightforward floral meander in the same deep navy almost black ground of the central medallion

The repeat Herati emanates in different waves from a single patterned ivory center to a rich red surround to a deep navy field. This Deco rug is quite calm and elegant.  An asymmetric inner border of branches and leaf like shapes in autumnal shades provide substance and balance to the delicate tone on tone patterning found in the the field and around the perimeter.

The top row breaks off to the left mid symbol while the bottom breaks off to the right mid bur giving the composition the illusion of movement.
