This American Hooked rug was handhooked in New England during the first quarter of the 20th century (1900-1925).  It features a pictorial design of two confronting dogs against a backdrop of trees. Wonderfully folky with a simple but effective use of perspective. The same pf dog is featured but subtle differences like the color of the collar and the different shape of the faces highlight the handmade nature and unique character that is desired in these pieces.

In very good condition, wear is consistent with age. Edges have been reinforced and backed with a thin canvas for longevity.
