This talismanic felt was handcrafted in the Ottoman Empire during the 19th century.

This piece is an extraordinary example of Islamic talismanic art—featuring finely embroidered Arabic calligraphy, floral rosettes, and celestial crescents, all meticulously rendered in silk on a felt ground.

The central medallion is encircled by stylized divine names and invocation, possibly selections from the 99 Names of God, and surrounded by blossoming lotus like flowers and sacred crescent and star motifs, symbolizing divine illumination and Ottoman sovereignty.

The craftsmanship is exceptional, blending the visual grammar of Ottoman imperial iconography with devotional Sufi aesthetics. The embroidered script, with its sweeping thuluth curves, dances across a symmetrical field of symbolic ornament, producing an effect both meditative and majestic.

Likely used as a wall hanging or shrine textile, this piece reflects a convergence of spiritual and artistic expression in the late 19th century.

In good condition for its age and use with some holes. Its preserved reverse reveals original stitching and textile joins. Minor thread wear and age marks are consistent with historical devotional use.
