This antique Baluch rug was woven during the early 20th century in western Afghanistan. This unusual little rug combines tapestry weave with flatweave to create an interesting texture and composition. The field features three columns which are abstracted trees of life that play elegantly with the faded madder backdrop. Multiple skirt borders on either end frame the composition, the busyness of the borders acting as a nice contrast to the openness of the central motif.
In fair vintage condition, with some wear throughout. Flatwoven and with a light handle.
