This Hamadan rug was woven in Western Iran during the early twentieth century (1900-1925).
It features a pulsating red field between an indigo central medallion and cornices and contains three distinct borders in red, ivory, and blue. The reds on this rug have been “painted” overusing fountain pens and ink, a practice common during the 1920s and often associated with Sarouk rugs of the period.
In great condition, wear is consistent with age.
