This Kurdish runner was woven during the fourth quarter of the 19th century.
This rug's main design is composed of rows of floral boteh on a deep brown ground. The main border features rosettes and jagged leaves on an ivory ground, while the minor borders contain a delicate floral meander. Note the multicolor candy-cane border around the field, which also emphasizes the eccentricity and the wonkiness of the weave itself.
In good condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Pile is low and densely woven, with a sturdy handle.
