Ottoman embroidery from the first quarter of the 20th century.
This fantastical piece is embroidered entirely with metal thread on a silk backing. The center of the design is a skyline of a mosque and minarets, surrounded by birds and four ornate vases in each corner. The negative space is filled in with small blossoms and leaves.
A delicate piece in fair condition, with wear throughout. A delicate piece, some conservation work has been carried out to prolong its longevity.
