This silk rug was handwoven during the turn of 20th century in Kashan.

This well-balanced and energetic piece features a purple central medallion on a bright white ground surrounded by icy blue cornices and framed by a purple ground border. The blue and purple dyes are hallmarks of the famous atelier of Motashem as are the purple selvage. The silk pile magnifies the top-tier tones and contrast of this finely woven rug.   The very precise and dense weave makes this rug exceptionally fine. Highly collectible and a delectable feast for both sight and touch.
