A handsome Baluch trapping with a long, graphic format and a deeply saturated palette of aubergine, forest green, madder, ivory, and dark brown. The design is built from a rhythmic checkerboard of small geometric devices, with serrated ivory bands running vertically through the field and a narrow decorative side border adding balance and movement.
Originally woven as functional animal gear, trappings like this carry the intimacy of nomadic life. They were made for use, but also for display, bringing pattern, color, and pride to everyday objects.
The loose wool ends and exposed back give a wonderful sense of construction, reminding us that these pieces were built as practical textiles before becoming collectible fragments of Baluch material culture. Beautiful as a wall hanging, table textile, or layered accent.
