Turkish rug from Turkey, handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century.
This charming little rug features peach and golden tones throughout, with browns and ivories adding soft contrast to the design. The design is composed of a central medallion, with abstracted geometric floral forms in the cornices. The borders alternate between curvilinear floral meanders for the minor borders, and a geometric leaf and calyx meander for the major border. Notice the unusual and enchanting border around the central medallion.
In very good condition, signs of wear consistent with age. There is some corrosion of the brown pile due to the use of an iron mordant (a common technique). Pile is low, with a soft handle.
