This vintage Soumak rug was handwoven in the Caucasus during the third quarter of the 20th century.
It features three latch-hooked concentric diamonds in reds and blues on a bright ivory field. The field is surrounded by multiple distinct borders including greek keys, scrolling 'S's, and most prominently a well-executed calyx and serrated leaf border.
In fair condition, with signs of wear throughout particularly to the right side; the foundation is still intact and the rug is structurally sound. Soumak weave, no pile, with a heavy but loose handle.
