This finely balanced Yomud carpet features a repeating dyrnak-gul field in shades of plum, indigo, ivory, coral, apricot and sky blue. Each diamond-shaped motif radiates a strong tribal geometry, emblematic of Yomud weavings from the Caspian steppe.

This Yomud Turkmen rug was handwoven during the early 20th century in Western Turkmenistan.

This finely balanced Yomud carpet features a repeating dyrnak-gul field in shades of plum, indigo, ivory, coral, apricot and sky blue. Each diamond-shaped motif radiates a strong tribal geometry, emblematic of Yomud weavings from the Caspian steppe.

An ivory meander border filled with stepped square medallions frames the composition, while the broad elem panels at each end display a row of large hooked triangular forms of an abstracted eagle motif symbolizing protection and vitality.

In very good condition, with original multiple cord selvedge and a loose floppy handle.
