These Brain Squares are made of 12” x 12” birch plywood and are part of an ongoing project that includes both pre-planned and improvised components. This series is also informed by music. These Brain Squares are made of 12” x 12” birch plywood and are part of an ongoing project that includes both pre-planned and improvised components. This series is also informed by music. The pre-planned aspect is that all include a brain image in which I use the same two stencils and enamel spray paint, though using different combinations of colors. The background in all these pieces, is the improvised part. For that, I use colored Sharpie markers and each one is different. While I am only about half way through, the plan is to have 64 of these squares arranged in an 8x8 format.
