This Coptic textile was woven in Egypt or the Levant during the 6th-7th century AD.
It features a roundel with various faces and vegetal motifs on a earthy red ground. It is framed by rounded borders including a main latchhooked border. With tones of green, purple and yellow to go with the wheat colored linen classically found in these textiles.
In good condition considering its significant age. Missing areas around the edges and the center. The fragment has been mounted to a fabric and framed to better display and secure the piece.
