The striped ground is animated by several hand-applied cords decorated with bundles of wool, fabric fragments, and small beads, forming rows of tassel-like embellishments that add texture and movement across the surface.
In Anatolian weaving traditions, such additions often carried protective or symbolic meaning. Knotted cords, dangling fibers, and small beads were believed to function as apotropaic elements, intended to ward off the evil eye and protect the household.
