This Yazd rug was woven during the first quarter of the 20th Century.
It features an elegant paneled garden design. Each compartment is filled with varied floral motifs, botehs, or medallions which create a lush and rhythmic visual field that evokes the classical Persian garden ideal.A richly detailed border of scrolling palmettes and rosettes. The finely woven construction and luminous palette of ivory, burgundy, mauve, apricot and indigo reflect the refined workshop tradition of Yazd. Which is verified by script in a cartouche which reads Makhsoos-e Yazd which roughly translates to specially made in Yazd.
