This kilim was woven in Bulgaria during the middle of the 20th century.
Inspired by curvilinear rugs with classic floral motifs, but rendered in kilim which gives the classic forms a boxier and more pixelated feel. It features alternating soft salmon and charcoal tones from the central medallion to the field to the cornices. The whole is framed by a meandering palmette border on a robin's egg blue ground. A thin block of salmon surrounds the perimeter balancing the whole.
In very good condition; Some very light color run around the border. Flatwoven of wool on linen base with a sturdy handle.
