This Serab runner was woven in western Iran during the early 20th century.

It features large-scale botehs growing on vines and surrounded by tiny rosettes on a chocolate ground. Framed by a main border of pulsating green "S" scrolls on a feisty lacquer red ground. The main border is flanked by matching minor borders of alternating polychrome rosettes.  

In very good condition, with minimal wear for its considerable age.  Low even pile and a floppy handle.
