This Sultanabad was handwoven in Western Iran during the late 19th century.
It features a central medallion on a rare green ground. The field is full of flowering vines, cypress trees and various abstracted animals which blend right in. The dark green ground and rich lacquer red contrast nicely with softer tones of periwinkle, coral, lilac, chartreuse, and sherbert. The wide and eclectic color range works together to create a harmonious whole.
In good condition for its considerable age. There are some areas of old restoration which has been expertly done to conserve the piece. It is common for this type to have had some conservation.
