A large Tibetan Wangden from the Wangden Valley, with a regular grid of small nested medallions distributed evenly across the field. Each compartment contains concentric squares rendered in soft coral and indigo against a gently variegated green ground. Narrow inner borders frame the composition, which is surrounded by a wide, lustrous wool fringe on all sides.
Woven in hand-spun wool with a dense, springy pile, the piece exhibits the depth of color and tactile richness associated with Kham-region domestic weaving. The warp-faced back underscores its intended role as a functional furnishing, traditionally used as a seat cover or interior textile. Balanced in proportion and restrained in palette, the piece translates naturally into contemporary interiors as either a floor accent or wall-mounted work.
In very good condition with some rewoven areas.
