Regular price $1,010.00 Sale

Vintage Khotan rug woven in the Xinjiang region of Northwest China. The Khotan Oasis lies near the Takla Makan Desert in the Tarim Basin in the area referred to as both Northwest China and East Turkestan. It was an important center of rug production throughout the centuries.

This rug features a bold geometric pattern utilizing elements found along both ends of the Silk Road  typical of Khotan rugs. Two medallions float on a camel ground, with raspberry cornices filled with blue and orange flowers. The minor borders are composed of the same flower motif in various blues, pinks and browns. The main border features a diagonal design in browns and pinks. This rug is in excellent condition, with no signs of wear. The original fringe ends are intact, and the pile is thick and soft, with a lustrous shine.
