Lovely needlepoint tapestry woven in Portugal. With a subject very unusual for its type, it features a scene more commonly associated with the Mughal or Safavid traditions. It appears to be an exchange between a Portuguese noble and his entourage with a bearded man wearing a turban. The border features a variety of hunting scenes. Previously prepared for hanging, the top is woven to a thin wood slat and the bottom to a metal pole helping to straighten and anchor for optimal presentation.
