The ancient city of Yazd sits halfway between Kerman and Isfahan, on the edge of the Great Desert. Rug weaving is an old tradition in Yazd, and this rug is an excellent example of the type of rug that was woven there. Woven in the early 20th century it features a soft, curvilinear floral pattern on an indigo blue ground, with cochineal red borders and details. Golden design elements buoy the pattern and lend it a regal air. This rug is in good condition, with some overall wear (pictured).
