This Senneh rug was woven during the second quarter of the 20th Century.

Wonderful but still folky perspective of looking into a building with three arches each with a hanging lantern. The perspective is accentuated by a grid which runs into a columned platform before breaking off into the glowing red distance. The piece is further differentiated by the addition of a zoomorphic alter directly in the center.

It features a variety of Native American symbols against a cream ground and framed a border of interlocking red and blue triangles that have been perfectly reconciled around the corners. The most prominent motif is a thunderbird which is a symbol of protection, power and strength. To the left are what appear to be bear paw prints (protection, power and strength) and to the right a Teepee (connection to nature and the ancestors) and a deer hoof (strength, agility and grace).

This Tekke Turkmen rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century in Turkmenistan.

The field features a grid of rounded main guls in various shades of brown, tan, bone and wheat on faded copper tone ground. The space between the grid is filled with rows of cruciform shaped secondary guls. It is encapsulated by a border of rams head filled octagons and finished with skirts of latch-hooked zigzags.

This lovely chapan is crafted from crimson striped silk. It is embellished with fine black, white, and yellow embroidery around its perimeter and up the sides. The embroidery is well executed more ornate than is standard for this type. There are three lovely floral forms on the bottom right and left of the jacket that also set it apart. A blue printed liner adds another element of interest.

These trouser cuffs were handmade in Turkmenistan during the 20th Century.   Turkmen women traditionally wear colorful ankle length dresses with baggy trousers in contrasting color and decorated bands. These trousers feature wonderful detailed embroidery bands near the ankles in blue, red, green and ivory on a magenta cloth.
