An antique Quchan Kurdish rug woven with an allover field of small stepped geometric medallions in soft salmon, indigo blue, turquoise, ivory, and warm brown. The closely arranged motifs create a lively, mosaic-like surface, framed by an ivory floral border and narrow geometric guard borders.
Quchan rugs were woven by Kurdish communities in the Khorasan region and are admired for their strong tribal drawing, durable construction, and expressive use of color. This example is especially appealing for its compact scale, beautifully varied palette, and tightly organized repeat pattern.
