This Shirvan rug was woven in the Caucasus during the late 19th century.

It features three powerful leshgi stars on an earthy red ground full of various rosettes and protection symbols.  Encapsulated by multiple individualized borders including rosettes, sunbursts, and calyx and serrated leaves. A very handsome palette of blues, reds, greens and aubergine is accentuated by glowing coral and orange among other tones.

This Art Deco rug was handwoven in Tientsin, China during the second quarter of the 20th century. 

This Deco rug is quite calm and elegant.  An asymmetric inner border of branches and leaf like shapes in autumnal shades provide substance and balance to the delicate tone on tone patterning found in the the field and around the perimeter.

The repeat Herati emanates in different waves from a single patterned ivory center to a rich red surround to a deep navy field. Wonderful but still folky perspective of looking into a building with three arches each with a hanging lantern. The perspective is accentuated by a grid which runs into a columned platform before breaking off into the glowing red distance. The piece is further differentiated by the addition of a zoomorphic alter directly in the center.
