This silk rug was handwoven during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Tianjin, China.It features a central medallion of delicate ivory flowers surrounded by a floral and serrated leaf fretwork in mutilple blues, pinks, red and green on a yellow ground. The whole is framed by a border of blossoming vines on a copper ground. Nicely finished with golden fringes adding further distinction.

This silk rug was handwoven during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Tianjin, China.It features a central lotus mandala on a rich red ground. This red tone is very auspicious and often associated with prosperity. The field is full of other auspicious symbols as well as flower filled vases. The whole is framed by a border of blossoming vines on a golden ground. Nicely finished with golden fringes adding further distinction.

This Bokhara was woven in Pakistan during the 1980s.  With an uncommon design for Bokhara rugs it for Bokhara features a classic Ensi design and a lovely skirt border on one end all on a desirable and uncommon black ground. Ensi rugs were woven by Turkmen tribes and traditionally used as a door cover or entrance to a yurt. Their is a belief among seasoned Turkmen collectors that the intention of this pattern was to represent a door or window to the afterlife.

Like many Quchan weavigns it is influenced by the nearby traditions. The perfect combination of Baluch design sensibility and Kurdish use of color. Simultaneously simple yet visually complex it features a design of concentric diamonds created with blocks of color over a totemic latticework. Multiple reds and blues are joined by a lovely orange and a deep brown. Inspired by their Baluch neighbors, a striking ivory is masterfully used to awaken the piece and provide it's visual impact.
