This rug was woven by the Khamseh Confederation during the 19th Century It features three totemic ivory ground medallions against a rich madder red field and is adorned with a dazzling array of stylized rosettes and abstracted blossoms. It is well balanced by a densely decorated main border of intricate boteh (paisley) motifs. The original blue, green and red striped end kilims are still intact perfectly completing the rug. A good example of this very collectible type.
