Antique Green Chinese Deco Area Rug

Antique Chinese Deco Rug - 4' x 6'3

Regular price $1,450.00 Sale

Art Deco rug, handwoven in Tietsin, China during the second quarter of the 20th century.

This Deco rug features a stunning sage field. The design is open and borderless, with unique but reciprocating patterning in each corner. Bunches of fruit blossoms with spectacular bursts of vibrant color sit opposite one another in one "pairing". The other "pairing" features auspicious symbols and metaphors in tone on tone greens with a ghostly or smoke like appearance. The top features a pair of bats flying amongst the clouds which symbolizes wishes for good fortune. The bottom features an endless knot with a precious jewel entwined with ribbon and is a metaphor for Indra's knot. Indra's knot is a Buddhist concept explaining the interconnectedness of all things.

In excellent condition. Pile is medium height, soft and plush, with a dense and heavy handle.
