This Heriz rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century in Northwest Iran.
It features a graphic all-over design of geometric rosettes and sawtoothed serrated leaves that are rendered with better "posture" than the more common curved leaf motif. It utilizes saturated yet soft tones of blues, reds, yellow and soft pink on a brick ground. The main border is composed of a reciprocating palmette design on deep midnight blue, surmah ground.
In Very Good condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Low pile with meaty wool and a dense, sturdy handle.
