This Rya rug was woven in Scandinavia during the middle of the 20th century.
It features a series of concentric squares outlined in jagged, firey edges. The earthy tones of burnt orange, yellow and brown accentuate its flamelike qualities. Rya rugs were woven with longer strands of yarn which gives them a high pile and their distinctly shaggy look and feel.
In excellent condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Pile is full and shaggy, with a sturdy handle.
