This Serab runner was woven in the early 20th century.

It features two striking medallions floating above lively latticework in ruby and sapphire which all pop against the rich camel ground. The latticework is contained within a cartouche on one side but the cartouche is incomplete on the other.  Nicely finished with an inner border of polychrome rosettes on a cheerful ivory ground and an outer laleh abbasi border rendered in perfectly contrasting tones of navy and red. The borders are further framed by a thick perimeter of caramel-toned camel which is playfully embellished with various protection symbols in a seemingly random arrangement.
