This Art Deco rug was handwoven in Tientsin, China during the second quarter of the 20th century.
This sumptuous Deco rug features a detailed naturalistic design of four distinct blossoming branches a bright red field. The eye-catching design features peonies, chrysanthemums, fruit blossoms among flowers rendered in greens, yellows, blues in purples. The flowers really pop on bright red, which is a shade most commonly associated with luck, joy, and prosperity in China.
In excellent condition for its age. Pile is medium height, soft and plush, with a dense and heavy handle.
