Contemporary Azeri Kilim - 4’8 x 7’

Regular price $475.00 Sale

This kilim was handwoven in Azerbaijan in the 21st century.

It features horizontal rows in red, yellow-green, and navy each with five hourglass shapes in contrasting tones. The rows are stacked and the colors are chosen in no particular pattern giving the piece a welcome randomness. It is framed by a solid ivory border with Farsi text scrolling across the top.

This kilim comes from a batch of hearty kilims that were likely intended as samples for large-scale production. Many of the rugs contain writing in Farsi that refers to pattern numbers and the words "Gilim" (Kilim) or "Farsh" (Carpet) and then "Mashiri" which is likely the producer. This particular kilim has the words "385" &  "Gilim Mashiri" written in Farsi.

In excellent condition, with limited signs of wear. Ideal for areas with heavy foot traffic, and very hard-wearing for a flatweave.
