This Sewan Kazak was woven in the Caucasus during the 19th century.
It features a variation of the classic rendition of the sewan design found in the Caucasus. The strong shield-like medallion is rendered here with a more boxier variation in a rich red, jade, indigo, and a cheerful yellow. It is framed by latchooked filled sqaures that coordinate perfectly with the squarish medallion
In very good condition, with a full meaty pile. It still has it's original end selvedges and braided end border with some slight unraveling in one corner (as pictured)
