Chancay-Style Burial Dolls in Shadow Box - 1'1 x 2'1 x 2"

Regular price $450.00 Sale

The Chancay style burial dolls were likely created from Pre-Colombian textiles during the late 19th century or early 20th century. The Chancay were known to bury woven dolls with their dead. The dolls from the Chancay period often feature woven faces whereas later reproductions dating from the 19th and 20th century often repurposed old Pre-colombian cloth into "new" Chancay dolls that often have a simple fabric or burlap face with woven or embroidered facial features.

Both the dolls and the shadow are in very good condition.
