Vintage Qashqa'i Bag Face - 1'7 x 1'10

This Khamseh rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century. It features a field of three connected latch-hooked medallions and various rosettes and flowering shrubs floral motifs. Rendered in a vibrant jewel tones of blue, green, red and yellow with ivory and brown accents. An energetic ivory main border is flanked by minor borders of polychrome botehs that sparkle like rows of Christmas lights.

serrated leaves floral forms can be found growing along the central axis and a stray animal charmingly appears near the bottom left. Four indigo ground cornices are filled with striped botehs and are connected on the left and right by sawtooth bridge. Framed by multiple narrow borders of abstracted and sharply scrolling flowering vines. Woven on a natural brown hand-spun wool and finished with brick and indigo candy cane selvedge.

Khamseh rug featuring a strong geometric central design with octagons in various sizes in a palette of red, blue, green, yellow, ivory, and brown. Five large eye-catching octagons are the most prominent and each are filled with the same protection symbol. The field is framed by a main border of floral motifs that are blossoming in pairs flanked by matching minor borders of diagonal stripes each filled with three boxes outlined in contrasting tones.

Antique Khamseh area rug featuring three connected latch-hooked medallions filled in a rare and quite spectacular palette of bright orange and lively seafoam green that really pop against the navy field. The field is chock full of interesting animal and vegetal motifs. Most intriguing are the four figures on horseback near the center, each with what appears to be a face in their torso.

Antique Qashqa'i kilim featuring a simplified garden design comprised of a grid of squares in big blocks of patinated greens, reds, and yellows. Each block contains various protection symbols. The composition is framed by an electric Laleh abbasi border with zig-zag edges. The open space of the squares plays well off the tight patterning of the grid and borders and accentuates the expressive nature of the weaving.

This Tree Gabbeh Rug features a simple and very organic rendering of a tree in dark brown barren of any leave on a variegated cream and brown ground. The simple form is naturalistic in its asymmetry and in the way the branches spread out into various tributaries. The pile is densely woven, making this a plush rug. Great for the floor or the wall.

This Antique Lori Rug features a connected column of lively stepped diamonds rendered in a handsome navy. The solid navy column is unadorned and stands out against a backdrop containing big blocks of vibrant yellow, red and softer indigo that contain abstracted boteh or bird-like figures. The main border features a bright ivory ground and scrolling vinework which alternates with directional blossoming flowers along the sides and more compact rosettes on the top and bottom.
