This Marash was handwoven during the middle of the 19th century in Eastern Anatolia likely by Kurds.
This rug features a rare double mihrab design filled with diamonds and an uncommon palette of regal purple, electric blue, icy blue/green, and orange sherbet. A deep navy field has rows of diagonal squares which are broken up right near the bottom by rosettes and hourglass devices. All framed nicely by an orange puzzle pieced border.
In great condition for age, missing end borders and selvedge has been redone on both sides. The pile is low but meaty, with a soft handle.
