Shekarlu Qashqa'i Rug - 4'10 x 9'3

Regular price $1,450.00 Sale

This Shekarlu rug was woven in southern Iran during the early 20th century. The Shekarlu are a Lori speaking subtribe of the Qashqa'i.

It features a diagonal grid of polychrome octagons filled with latch hooked devices on an indigo field. It features a wide variety of tones including exceptional blues, greens, reds, yellows, and white. The whole is surrounded by a vibrant white field with similar devices but has latch hooks on the exterior as well as the interior. The rug was woven with a red weft and as the pile has worn down it has become more visible in areas giving it a lively red glow. The original ends in wide bands of kilim with weft floats still intact. Showcasing the rugs rich, saturated tones and adding a special touch.

In good condition with visible wear but structurally sound.
