Antique Mughal Northern India Agra Prayer Rug pink and floral

Antique Agra Prayer - 2'6 x 4'5

Regular price $1,250.00 Sale

This unusual Agra prayer rug dates from the early 20th century.

It has a beautiful floral design in a pink and gold palette. The pink and crimson were produced from lac. Though many of these Agras were produced as decorative rugs for export under British ruled India, this particular was intended to be used as a prayer rug. The Arabic text within the mihrab reads 'Allahu Akbar.' The rug was woven horizontally, so the fringe is along the length of the piece. The rug is in great condition considering its age, as pictured.
