rajasthan It features various naturalistic floral motifs and squares that are made with hand drawn mordant and resist dyed cotton. In various reds and purples with sage, dutch orange and most notably a neon pink. These pieces are referred to as Jajam and often made as part of a dowry. They are used for honored guests or communally as a seat for village council members when making social and judicial decisions.

This Azilal rug was woven in the Middle Atlas mountains during the 20th century.  It features a central column of stepped brown diamonds on a pale pink ground. Some are filled with purple and blue diamonds. The addition of some blue to warp adds some fun.

This Boucherouite rug was handwoven in Morocco during the end of the 20th century.   Boucherouite rugs are made using recycled fabrics, giving them their distinctive multicolor and shaggy pile. This funky rug features a diamond checkerboard pattern in black, ivory, red and turquoise.  The lovely free flowing nature is accentuated by the changing proportions of the diamonds and uneven use of the vibrant tones (especially the turquoise!)

It features hand cut mirrors that have been hand-stitched with silk thread into grid and diamond patterns  on cotton cloth dyed with a dusty lilac. The mirrors really sparkle in the right light.

Vintage Mola cloth handmade by the Guna (previously spelled Kuna) people of the San Blas Islands.  Mola is a reverse appliqué technique, similar to the technique used in quilting but using multiple layers of different-colored cloth that are first sewn together before a design is created by cutting away different layers.  This Mola features two birds and a baby chick.  The fabric is in good condition with some fraying around the edges
