This Art Deco rug was handwoven in Tientsin, China during the second quarter of the 20th century. 

It features a Fenghuang on a variegated field in faded lilac and lavender. The fenghuang is an auspicious symbol of joy and peace in Chinese culture. Lush flowering vines deep into the field from a variety of vases sitting atop a golden yellow border.

In good condition, with some uneven color fading and wear. Pile is low and densely woven, with a sturdy handle.
