SILK KINTSUGI A soulful early Ersari Turkmen rug, measuring with a beautifully aged surface and a striking contemporary repair. The field is arranged with large-scale Turkmen guls in a soft, time-muted palette of deep red, brown, indigo, charcoal, and ivory. Years of wear have softened the design, giving the rug a quiet, atmospheric quality while still preserving the rhythm and strength of its original tribal composition.

Kintsugi Silk Repaired Ersari Turkmen - 5’6 x 7'2

A soulful early Ersari Turkmen rug, with a beautifully aged surface and a striking contemporary repair.

What makes this piece especially compelling is the visible kintsugi-inspired repair, executed in purple silk. Rather than disguising the rug’s history, the repair highlights it, tracing the old damage with a deliberate and elegant line. The effect is both humble and poetic with a traditional Turkmen weaving given a new layer of meaning through restoration.

Like ceramic kintsugi, the repair treats imperfection as part of the object’s beauty. The worn pile, exposed structure, faded color, and silk stitching all become part of the rug’s story.

A deeply characterful piece for someone drawn to age, patina, and the beauty of visible mending.
