Khamseh rug handwoven during the first quarter of the 20th century.
This stunning rug's design is composed of three barbed central medallions, filled with geometric shapes on an ivory field. They are bordered by symbols (rosettes, botehs, protective charms) and geometric or abstracted animals (roosters and double headed goats). The main field is unusually composed of multicolor vertical stripes containing designs traditionally used for borders. The minor borders are composed of floral meanders, while the main border features a geometric floral motif.
In fair condition, with signs of wear throughout, although some areas are more worn than others. Edges have been reinforced for longevity. Pile is low, with a smooth handle.
