This Bessarabian kilim was woven in Moldova during the second quarter of the 20th century.
It features a central bouquet of plush cabbage roses in soft purples, delicate oranges and ivory framed by orange baroque "c" scrolls and giant acanthus leaves with touches of sage and lilac. The whole is framed by a wide border of bountiful blossoms of various types with lively curling leaves. The whole is on a chocolate ground and has a sepia haze which blurs the colors beneath and gives it a golden glow.
In excellent condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Flatwoven, with a sturdy handle.
